If you have an existing VanillaSoft VoIP line assigned to a particular User, but you want to transfer it to a different User, you can do so by following the steps below. Changing the assignee of a VanillaSoft VoIP line will not remove any saved greetings, voicemails, or any other configuration that may be in place for that line. If the new User wants to record their own greetings or VM Drops, they would need to follow the steps in our Your Personal Voicemail Greeting and How to Set Up Voicemail Drop articles.
Assign a VoIP Line to a Different User
- Log in to VanillaSoft as an Admin.
- From the menu at the top, click Users.
- Enter the username the VoIP line is currently assigned to in the Search Users field and hit Enter.
- Click on the username the VoIP line is currently assigned to.
- In the Dialing Info section, click the Unassign VoIP Line button.
- Click Confirm to commit and proceed.
- From the menu at the top, click Users again.
- Enter the username you would like to assign the VoIP line to in the Search Users field and hit Enter.
- Click on the username you would like to assign the VoIP line to.
- In the Dialing Info section, select SIP.
- Open the SIP Line Provider drop-down and select ConnectMeVoice Softphone.
- Open the ConnectMeVoice Number drop-down and select the desired VoIP line.
- Click Confirm to commit and proceed.
- Check the SMS Enabled checkbox if desired.
- This is an optional setting that may increase the monthly bill.
- Once done, click Save.
The VanillaSoft VoIP line is now assigned to the new User and can be used accordingly. If the User cannot use the line right away, they may need to log out and back into either VanillaSoft, VS Connect, or both.
