When importing data into custom tables, the system attempts to match a unique field in the import file with existing contacts. If a unique match is found, the import record is added to the contact's custom table. If multiple matches are found, the data won't be imported to avoid ambiguity.
Steps to Import Data into a Custom Table
- Access Import Contacts: From the Admin homepage, click Import Contacts after selecting the desired project.
- Upload Your File: Browse your device to find and upload the file containing data for import.
- Choose Import Method: From the Import Method drop-down, select Import Custom Table Data.
- Click Next: Proceed to the next step.
- Select Custom Table: Pick the custom table to which the data will be imported.
- Match Fields: Choose the fields to match data to existing contacts.
- Add New Contacts (Optional): Check the Add New Contacts box if you want to add new contacts that don't already exist in the system.
- Click Next: Proceed to the mapping stage.
- Map Information: Map the data you want to import while leaving other fields as ---Field not mapped---.
- Start Import: Click Start Import to begin importing data into the custom table.
By following these steps, you can accurately import and map data into custom tables while ensuring new contacts are added only when needed.
