VanillaSoft allows integration with many different VoIP providers. In this article, we are going to go over how to configure your system to use Skype as your default dialer for VanillaSoft.

Step 1 - Configure Skype

1. Download and install the latest version of Skype by clicking here.
2. Once the install is complete, Skype should run automatically.
   • If Skype doesn't run automatically, double-click the icon from your program list.
3. Sign in to your Skype account.
   • If you don't have an existing Skype account, you will need to create one.
4. Once you're successfully logged in, move on to Step 2 below.

Step 2 - Configure VanillaSoft

1. Log in to VanillaSoft as a Caller.
2. Click on your username in the top-right corner of the screen.
3. Select Test Controls from the left-hand pane.
4. Ensure all tests have passed.
   • If any test has failed, follow the steps displayed to correct before proceeding.
5. Select Dialing Info from the left-hand pane.
6. In the Line Type section, select SIP. 
7. Open the Line Provider drop-down and select Skype.
8. Once done, click Save Changes. 

Step 3 - Configure your Computer/Browser

Once Skype and VanillaSoft have been configured to communicate with each other, you may need to set Skype as your default dialer. Often this is as simple as clearing the cache of your browser, clicking the phone icon , then selecting which program you would like to use to complete the call. If you're not sure how to clear your browser's cache, click on the appropriate link below and follow the steps:

• Google Chrome
• Mozilla Firefox
• Microsoft Internet Explorer
• Apple Safari

If you are still not able to use Skype as your default dialer, you may need to change your Operating System's settings to determine which program is used to complete the call. 

• Change Default Programs in Windows 7
• Change Default Programs in Windows 8
• Change Default Programs in Windows 10
• Change Default Programs in Mac OS

Once everything has been configured, you are all set up to use Skype to dial within VanillaSoft! To test this, click the Return icon  in the top-left corner of VanillaSoft to go back to your contact page then click the phone icon . Skype should begin to dial automatically.
