By allowing your contacts to opt out of your SMS messages, you show your company in a better light and receive a higher success rate. By not sending SMS to unwanted recipients, the Traffic Balance ratio will also increase (you can read this more by visiting the SMS Best Practices article), decreasing your chances of getting your SMS blocked by other carriers.

Contact Automatically Opted Out When Added
- Log in to VanillaSoft as an Admin.
- Select the desired Project you want this setting to apply to.
- Under Field Customization, click on Phone Fields.
- Check the Contacts manually added by callers are automatically opted-out of SMS box.
- Click Save.
Add Option to SMS Template
- Log in to VanillaSoft as an Admin.
- Select the desired Project you want this setting to apply to.
- Open the Email, SMS & Docs menu, then select the SMS Templates section.
- Select the template you would like to modify.
- Type a message informing the recipient to reply with "STOP."

- Once complete, click Save.
Modify Specific Contact as a Caller
- Log in to VanillaSoft as a Caller.
- Select Edit from the top-left corner of the Contact's information.
- Check the SMS Opted Out box.
- Click Save.
Note: All of these changes can be undone if the contact wishes to receive SMS moving forward.
