By giving your contacts an opportunity to opt-out from your SMS messages, you show your company in a better light and receive a higher success rate. By not sending SMS to unwanted recipients, it will also increase the Traffic Balance ratio (you can read on this more by visiting the SMS Best Practices article) which will decrease your chances of getting your SMS blocked by other carriers.
Contact Automatically Opted Out When Added:
1. Log in to VanillaSoft as an Admin.
2. Select the project that you would like this setting to apply to.
3. Select the Field Customization tab from the top menu.
4. Go into the Phone Fields section.
5. Check the Contacts manually added by callers are automatically opted-out of SMS box and Save.
Add Option to SMS Template:
1. Log in to VanillaSoft as an Admin.
2. Select the project that you would like this setting to apply to.
3. Select the Email, SMS & Docs tab from the top menu.
4. Go into the SMS Templates section.
5. Select the template you would like to modify.
6. Either type a message informing the recipient to reply with "STOP" or select Insert Opt-Out and chose an existing message to insert.
7. Once complete, click Save.
Modify Specific Contact as a Caller:
1. Have the contact open in front of you.
2. Select Edit from the top-right of the contact's information.
3. Check the SMS Opted Out box and click Save.
Note: All of these changes can be undone if the contact wishes to receive SMS moving forward.
