VMDrop in Vanillasoft VoIP allows callers to leave a prerecorded voicemail message without waiting for a call to reach a contact's voicemail, or manually recording the message live. When a call reaches a contact’s voicemail, VMDrop delivers the saved message automatically, allowing the caller to move on to the next call with minimal interruption.
VMDrop mailboxes are created and managed within the Vanillasoft VoIP portal. Once configured, VMDrop can be triggered directly from the Vanillasoft dialing screen, where the system sends the prerecorded message to the contact’s voicemail and then disconnects the call automatically, confirming successful delivery.
Create a VMDrop
Log in to the Vanillasoft VoIP portal.
- Note: This portal may display Cloudli branding because it is hosted by Cloudli. All configuration and support are handled by Vanillasoft. For assistance, contact Vanillasoft Support.
Open the Telephony menu from the main navigation.
Open the Music on hold submenu.
Select the Mailbox Drop section.
Click New to create a VMDrop.
Enter a clear, descriptive name for the VMDrop.
Open the Person drop-down and select the user or extension the VMDrop will apply to.
Select a digit from 0–9 that will be used to trigger the VMDrop during a call.
- This digit determines the activation code used during calls. For example, selecting 3 allows the VMDrop to be triggered by dialing #993 when a contact’s voicemail answers.
Enter a brief description of the audio content for internal reference.
Apply an audio message to the VMDrop by choosing one of the following options.
Option 1: Upload an existing recording: Select Choose File to upload a prerecorded voicemail message from your computer. The audio file must be in .wav format.
- Option 2: Record a new message by phone: Click the option to record a message using your Vanillasoft VoIP phone. Enter the phone number you want to associate with the VMDrop and click OK. That number will receive a call with instructions to record the voicemail message, which will be applied automatically.
When finished, click Save to apply the VMDrop, or click Save and Continue to save your changes and configure another VMDrop.
Once your VMDrop mailbox is created in the Vanillasoft VoIP portal, it is ready to be activated and used during calls. To begin using VMDrop in your daily workflow, follow the Activate and Label VMDrops in Vanillasoft and Use VMDrops During Calls steps in the How to Use Voicemail Drop (VMDrop) in VanillaSoft article.
