How to Use the Call Transfer Feature in VS Connect
With VS Connect, you have the option to transfer calls to either an internal or external party. This feature allows you to choose between a warm transfer, where you introduce the parties before leaving the conversation, or a cold transfer, which directly sends the call to another number without introduction. Here’s how you can execute both types of transfers:
Cold Transfer: Transfer Without Introduction
Perform a cold transfer when you need to quickly move the call without interacting further.
Steps for a Cold Transfer:
-
Initiate the Transfer: While on a call in VS Connect, click the Transfer This Call icon.
-
Enter the Transfer Details: Type in or select the desired name or number where you want to transfer the call.
-
Execute the Transfer: Click Transfer Now.
-
Confirmation: After clicking, the call will disconnect and you should see a "Transfer Succeeded" message, confirming the call has been successfully transferred to the specified number.
Warm Transfer: Transfer With Introduction
Choose a warm transfer to briefly connect with the receiving party, introduce the caller, and ensure a smooth handover.
Steps for a Warm Transfer:
-
Initiate the Transfer: While engaged in a call on VS Connect, select the Transfer This Call icon.
-
Enter the Transfer Details: Input or select the desired name or number to which you want to transfer the call.
-
Connect with the Receiving Party: Click the down-arrow next to the Transfer Now button and select Call First to reach out to the receiver before completing the transfer.
- Complete the Transfer: Once the receiving party is ready, click Transfer Now.
- Both calls will be merged and you will be disconnected. This confirms the transfer was successfully sent to the desired number.
Both methods are efficient in different contexts. A cold transfer is suitable when the receiving party is expecting the call or when a quick handoff is necessary. A warm transfer is beneficial when the receiving party might need context or a personal introduction to the situation. By understanding and using these features, you can enhance the call handling experience and ensure that transfers are conducted as smoothly as possible.
