- Check the Status of VanillaSoft
- Test Your Network
- Clear Browser's Cache
- Disable Add-Ons
- Try Another Browser
Step 1 - Check the Status of VanillaSoft
The first and most straightforward factor to check would be ensuring there are currently no networking issues with VanillaSoft itself. You can check if there are any current outages or service interruptions by visiting our VanillaSoft Status Page. If there are no current issues listed, you can proceed with the steps below to troubleshoot further.
Step 2 - Test Your Network
If you connect to the internet via WiFi, the first step would be to disable your WiFi card and connect directly to the modem/router with an Ethernet cable. Once you're connected directly to your modem/router, you can test VanillaSoft again. If the issues persist, follow the steps below to troubleshoot your network further.
- Run a speed test. Go to SpeedTest and test your connection speed to ensure you can achieve at least 5Mbps for your download speed and 2Mbps for your upload speed. If either value is less than this, please reach out to your Internet Service Provider to discuss upgrading your package.
- Run a ping test. The results from this test will tell you if there are any delays or packet loss on your connection. If you're not sure how to run this test, or you aren't sure what the results mean, take a look at our How To Run a Ping Test article, which details the process and results.
- Temporarily disable any network security. We do not recommend connecting to the internet without protection, but that protection causes specific issues in rare cases. Suppose you are comfortable with making this change. In that case, you can disable your network security program/settings, test VanillaSoft to see if the issue persists, then enable the program/settings once complete.
Step 3 - Clear Browser's Cache
Clearing your browser's cache in its entirety will not remove any saved information or browsing history, but it may resolve your issue. If you're not sure how to clear your browser's cache, click on the browser you are using from the links below.
Once you clear the cache, you will need to close all tabs and windows from that browser. Once everything is closed, you can open a new window and test VanillaSoft again.
Step 4 - Disable Add-Ons
If you are running any add-ons, toolbars, or extensions in your browser, you can try to disable them and reload VanillaSoft. If you're having issues with VanillaSoft loading, disabling these may resolve the issue for you. If you're not sure how to disable an extension or add-on, click on the browser you are using from the links below.
Once all add-ons, toolbars, and extensions have been disabled, you can refresh your VanillaSoft page and test again.
Step 5 - Try Another Browser
VanillaSoft is tested across many different browsers, such as Google Chrome, Mozilla Firefox, Microsoft Internet Explorer, and Apple Safari, to ensure maximum compatibility. However, if you are experiencing issues while using a particular browser, the cause might be something within that browser itself. Testing in another browser will confirm or eliminate the browser being the cause of the issue(s). The two main browsers we recommend are Google Chrome and Mozilla Firefox.
