To enable voice transcription for calls in VanillaSoft, you must first ensure that call recording is enabled. This article outlines the steps to enable voice transcription after you have verified that your Result Codes are correctly set up for recording.
Requirements
- VanillaSoft VoIP Line: You must be using a VanillaSoft VoIP line.
- VS Connect: Ensure you are using the VS Connect softphone.
- Call Recording: Call Recording must be enabled on your account. Follow the steps in our Setting Up Call Recording in VanillaSoft article.
- Call Length: Transcription is available for calls longer than 20 seconds.
- Result Code with Recording: The result code must have the Recording option checked. To configure result codes, refer to the Create Result Codes in Your VanillaSoft Project article.
Steps to Enable Voice Transcription

Select Project: From the Admin homepage, open the desired project.

Access Dialing & Recording Settings: Open the Dialing & Recording menu and select Dialing & Recording.

Enable Transcription: Check the Transcription checkbox.
- Note: The transcription option will only be available if the Recording option is enabled. If not, check the Recording checkbox first. A message will appear if recording is disabled.

Review Compliance Information: A pop-up will appear listing important details. Click Confirm to proceed.

Save Changes: Once you've confirmed the details, click Save to enable transcription.
