Getting your contacts into Vanillasoft is one of the first things you will want to do before your team starts dialing. Vanillasoft imports contacts from a CSV file, so you will need to have your contact list saved in that format before you begin.
Before You Start
Your contact list must be saved as a .csv file before it can be imported. If your list is currently in Excel or another spreadsheet format, refer to the Save Your Spreadsheet as a CSV File article for instructions.
If you are on a French or non-English Windows operating system, your CSV file may use semicolons instead of commas as separators, which can cause import errors. Refer to the Change Semi-colon Separators to Commas in Windows article to fix this before importing.
Import Your Contacts
Log in to Vanillasoft as an Admin.
- If you are logged in as a Caller, switch to Admin from the top menu.
Select the Project you want to import contacts into.
Open the Contacts & Reports menu and select Import Contacts.
Click Choose File, locate your CSV file, select it, and click Open.
Open the Import Method drop-down and select the appropriate option.
Add Contacts: Adds all contacts from your file without checking for duplicates.
Add Contacts / Skip Duplicates: Adds new contacts and skips any duplicates based on a field you select.
- Add / Update Contacts: Adds new contacts and updates any existing matches based on a field you select.
Click Next.
Map the fields from your CSV file to the corresponding Vanillasoft fields. Vanillasoft will attempt to map them automatically, but verify all mappings before continuing.
- Once your mapping looks correct, click Start Import.
You will be directed to a screen showing your import status. You can navigate away from this page without affecting the import.
Your contacts are now imported and ready to use in Vanillasoft. If you need to undo an import, refer to the How to Delete an Import article. For more advanced import options like saved mappings, updating existing contacts, and default values, refer to the How to Import Contacts into Vanillasoft article.
