Configure your Project for International Dialing
If you will be using VanillaSoft to dial numbers from different countries, you need to change some settings to accommodate different phone number formats. These changes are only necessary if you are dialing multiple different countries with varying phone number formats. If you are calling within the same country, or between countries with the same format (such as Canada and the United States), these changes are not required.
Important Note
This is a project-specific setting. If you want these settings applied to multiple projects, you will need to follow the steps below for each desired project.
Step 1 - Project Setting
-
Select Project: From the Admin homepage, select the desired project.
-
Access Dialing & Recording Settings: Open the "Dialing & Recording" menu and select the "Dialing & Recording" section.
-
Enable Multiple Countries Dialing: Open the "Allow Dialing Multiple Countries" drop-down and select "Yes".
-
Save Changes: Once done, click Save.
VanillaSoft will now be able to format phone numbers correctly when importing. Any contacts previously imported will need to be re-imported to have the correct phone number formatting. Your import spreadsheet will need to include the country code for each phone number in order to import correctly.
Step 2 - Import Setting
-
Access Import Contacts: Open the "Dialing & Recording" menu and select the "Import Contacts" section.
-
Proceed with Import: Proceed with importing contacts as normal until you get to the mapping page. For in-depth instructions, refer to the How to Import Contacts into VanillaSoft article.
- Map Fields Page:
- Scroll down to the Phone Information section.
-
Check the "Phone Numbers Start with the Country Code" checkbox.
-
Complete Import: Proceed with mapping the rest of the fields and complete the import process.
By following these steps, you can set up VanillaSoft to handle dialing multiple countries with different phone number formats effectively. This ensures that all phone numbers are correctly formatted during import, allowing for seamless dialing operations across various countries.
