How To Delete a Team
Deleting a team in VanillaSoft requires careful planning to ensure all contacts are properly reassigned and that the action is performed correctly. This guide will walk you through the steps to delete a team, including moving contacts to a different team and the deletion process itself. Note that deleting a team cannot be undone, and restoring a deleted team will require creating a new one.
Important Considerations
Before deleting a team, someone with Admin access must move any contacts currently assigned to that team to another team. This can be done by running a query. For more details, refer to the How to Build a Query in Contact Management and Update Contacts Using a Contact Management Query articles.
Assign Contacts to a Different Team

Select Project: From the Admin homepage, select the desired project where the team resides.

Access Contact Management: Open the Contacts & Reports menu from the top and select Contact Management.

Build a New Query: If you don't have an existing query built, select Build a New Query.

Select Fields: Select the Team field from the Select Fields list. You may select additional fields if desired.

Move Fields to Selected Section: Click the right-arrow to move the field(s) into the Selected Fields section.

Set Filter for Team: In the Selected Fields window, open the Filter drop-down for Team and select Equal To.

Select the Desired Team: Open the Value drop-down and select the team you want to reassign contacts from. You may set additional filters if desired.

Run the Query: Select Run Query to see a list of your results.

Perform Task: Click on the Perform Task option.

Update Contacts: In the Actions to Perform on Query window, select Update Contacts.

Select Team Checkbox: Check the Team checkbox.

Enter New Team Value: Open the Enter Value drop-down and select the team where you want to move the contacts. Leave blank to move contacts to the Default Team.

Update Contacts: Once you're pleased with your configuration, click Update.

Confirm Update: Click OK on the confirmation popup to move the contacts.
Delete the Team

Select Project: From the Admin homepage, select the desired project where the team resides.

Access Teams: Open the Field Customization menu from the top and select Teams.

Delete the Team: Click the X to the left of the team name you want to delete.

Confirm Deletion: Click OK to confirm.
Deleting a team in VanillaSoft is a straightforward process, but it requires ensuring all contacts are properly reassigned first. Remember, this action cannot be undone.
